Graduate trainees are based in our audit department. We recruit throughout the year and welcome applications from interested candidates.

Careers in audit/accountancy can take you anywhere you want them to, with a bit of hard work.

The ACA training contract is a three year contract during which time trainees follow the ICAEW exam path to become qualified. Once you are qualified, there are so many different opportunities available, it is impossible to list them all. The ACA qualification is recognised and respected worldwide. Our qualified ACAs who have stayed working in audit have gone on to become Managers, Senior Managers and Partners at KPMG in Gibraltar.

Some have moved departments to Taxation and Advisory, progressing through the management chain to the top. Many qualified ACAs have since left KPMG and become the Finance Directors of large and small Companies, locally and worldwide. 

Locations

Our office is based in Ocean Village, Gibraltar; however, our work takes us to many different locations on a daily basis. As part of the KPMG global network we have a global mobility programme which offers the opportunity to work in other offices on short term assignments. It aims to develop international skills and transfer talent and knowledge across borders. The nature of audit work means that we base ourselves with our clients. This can mean working from a client office a short walk away from our office base, or as far as Hong Kong. We have a number of audits for which our teams work in other jurisdictions and they provide a great opportunity for short term travel.

How to apply

Our application process is designed to get the best from all kinds of people. Show us you have the skills, aspirations and experience we’re looking for and you’ll join a diverse community of bright minds at KPMG. We’ve outlined what to expect below. Stage 1: Online Registration Form

You will need to upload your CV and complete some basic information to register your interest in the programme.

Stage 2: Online Application Form

This is your chance to tell us about your academic background and any work experience you may have undertaken. This should take about 20 minutes to complete.

Stage 3: Situational Judgement Test

After submitting your application form, you’ll receive a link to a Situational Judgement Test (SJT) within one working day. We’ll ask you to consider hypothetical, challenging situations that you might encounter as a trainee with KPMG. You’ll have a choice of possible responses to each one.

Although the test is untimed, the recommended time to complete it is 30 minutes and you will need to take this in the same sitting. You’ll need to do so within seven days, so please don’t apply until you know you’ll have time.

Stage 4: Online Numerical and Verbal Reasoning Tests

If you’re successful in your SJT, you will be asked to complete online verbal and numerical reasoning tests. Designed especially for KPMG, they look at your ability to analyse numerical and verbal data – skills that you’ll need on the job.

Each test will take around 20 minutes and is timed, so make sure you have enough time before you begin as each test will need to be taken in the same sitting. As with the SJT, you’ll need to do so within 7 days. We strongly advise that you practice similar tests before you complete the KPMG ones.

Practice as much as possible before taking both the numerical and verbal reasoning tests, even if you’ve taken them before, by:

• Visiting your careers service and trying some sample tests. They may provide feedback, helping you to focus on areas that can be improved.

• Checking out any books available. Many have practical examples and answers, so you can see what you need to learn before the real thing.

Some other things to consider if you’re invited to sit the online tests:

• Make sure you're relaxed and prepared before you start.

• Don't expect to finish the tests. They’re designed to put you under time pressure.

• Sometimes the practice tests can seem easier than the real thing.

• Make sure that you’re in an environment where you can concentrate and feel comfortable

• Let us know beforehand if you need any reasonable adjustments

Stage 5: Telephone Interview

If you’re successful in the reasoning tests, you’ll be invited to a telephone interview. This 30 minute interview with a KPMG colleague is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your communication skills, relevant experiences and your motivation towards a career at KPMG.

Stage 6: Analysis Exercise and Final Interview

If your telephone interview is successful we’ll invite you to our offices to complete an analysis exercise and final interview, this is the final stage of the recruitment process.During these assessments we will be looking for you to demonstrate the KPMG behavioural capabilities that will give us the confidence that you will be successful in our Firm.
