August 2016 results

Our latest results from the KPMG Fraud Barometer have just been published. The bi-annual Barometer identifies the latest fraud trends and patterns affecting the UK economy which helps businesses remain alert to new threats and respond to any fraud risks in an appropriate and proactive manner. 

Highlights for the first six months of this year:

  • An overall fall in the volume and value of fraud going to courts in the UK to £328 million.
  • The drop in fraud recorded is considered to be a temporary aberration.
  • Commercial businesses were victims of fraud to the tune of £95m.
  • SMEs businesses were particularly vulnerable.
  • Fraud against the health sector up 88% to £7.2 million
  • Charities and not-for-profit groups targeted by fraudsters, to the value of almost £6 million.
