On Thursday 3 May 2018 KPMG and K law will host a seminar specifically aimed for VMOBs/SMAs during which an update will be given on the recent regulatory challenges they are facing.
The topics that will be discussed during the seminar shall include:
- Insurance Distribution Directive (‘IDD’)
The new EU IDD aims to strengthen consumer protection and harmonize the rules on distribution of insurance products by introducing a “MiFID-style” regime for the insurance sector. IDD needs to be transposed into Belgian law by 1 July 2018 and will enter into force at the latest on 1 October 2018. This seminar will give you insights on how to adapt to the new obligations in areas such as product oversight and governance, transparency, information obligations and advice, client testing, inducements and professional training.
- General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’)
The EU GDPR will replace the Data Protection Directive from 1995 and aims at protecting the EU citizen’s personal data in the current digital world, whilst harmonizing the legislation for the processing of personal data across the entire EU. The EU GDPR was published on 4 May 2016 in the Official Journal of the European Union and will enter into force on May 25, 2018. This seminar will highlight the large impact this change will have in terms of how to handle personal data, the new responsibilities for data processors, the data breach reporting requirements, the appointment of a mandatory Data Protection Officer, and the administrative fines which can be imposed for non-compliance with the regulation.
- Circular on the expectations as regards quality of reported prudential and financial data
The purpose of this circular is to share the impact that the growing importance the supervisors will attach to the quality of the reported prudential and financial details with the relevant financial institutions. This seminar will give you insights on the various quality tests (and dimensions) which institutions are required to comply with for the data they submit, on how to perform the required self-assessments on data quality of regulatory reporting as of 31 December 2017, as well as on how to prepare action plans for remediation.
