Follow-up communication on the Mining Report issu...

The Davis Tax Committee (established by the Minister of Finance in 2013) released its long awaited first interim report (“the report”) on mining on 13 August 2015. For a summary of the main changes and recommendations put forward by the DTC in respect of the current tax regime applicable to mining taxpayers (excluding the oil and gas sectors at this stage), please refer to our Tax Alert released on 18 August 2015 here.

The DTC has called for comments in respect of the report which must be submitted by 31 October 2015. In this regard, KPMG will be preparing and collating a comprehensive submission to the DTC in respect of the report, and would like to provide you with the opportunity to discuss your comments and/or recommendations in respect of the report with us, which we will include as part of our submission.

Comments can be provided in terms of the following processes:

  1. Contact any of the team members below to arrange a meeting to discuss your comments. These will be recorded and included as part of our submission. This can be done on either a named or no-names basis depending on your preference;
  2. Comments can be provided in writing to clientcomments@kpmg.co.za  These written comments will be included as part of our submission (on either a named or no-names basis as per your instruction);
  3. To the extent that you wish to submit comments on a completely anonymous basis, comments can be provided in writing to ZA-FM KPMG Tax and Legal
