Muhammad is MD of Tax and Legal and Tax Director based at KPMG’s Johannesburg office specializing in Mining Taxation. Muhammad headed-up the tax practice in Saudia Arabia for three years under a global secondment. Prior to his secondment to Saudi, Muhammad served as Tax Director where he headed-up the Energy and Natural Resources (“ENR”) Tax Service Line. During his tenure at KPMG in South Africa, Muhammad had advised an array of clients on a number of ground-breaking transactions, some of them being the largest in their respective industries. Muhammad has experience in several industries including mining, power, food, financial services, private equity, manufacturing and industrial. Muhammad also advised various clients on in-bound and out-bound investments, corporate re-organisations, assistance with tax objections and settlements, and general tax advisory assistance including tax opinions, advanced tax rulings and a liaison with Revenue officials. Muhammad’s clients include a number of Private Equity Funds, Financial Institutions, Mining Houses, Parastatals, Large Industrial and Manufacturing concerns, etc.
