KPMG in South Africa Elle-Sarah joined KPMG SA in 2016 and has 16 years’ experience as an attorney in litigation, 14 of which is in Dispute Resolution, Litigation , Accounting, Debt Management and International Revenue Assistance with the South African Revenue Service (“SARS”) where she was responsible for the management of a legal and debt management specialized unit in Enforcement Division of SARS. She accordingly has extensive experience in SARS’ internal dispute resolution channels. Elle-Sarah joined SARS in 2003 as a Legal Advisor (later Tax Lawyer) where she managed high profile matters (audit, legal (advice and litigation) and collections on matters for SARS. In 2009, she was appointed as Manager: Enforcement where she represented SARS in respective international legal matters in the UK and liaised with the French and Australian Tax Authorities. She (in early 2015), in additional to her current role, also became Acting Manager: Special Debt Recovery, where she managed a unit with a debt book of more than R6billion. Before leaving SARS, Elle-Sarah also managed all incoming international requests for information to SARS as well as litigation on behalf of other revenue agencies in South Africa. Having spent 13 years with SARS, Elle-Sarah has extensive knowledge of revenue’s processes and procedures, internal governance structures as well as audit, accounting, legal, international relations and debt management processes. She was also entrenched in tax dispute resolution processes (both ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) and tax litigation as well as negotiation and resolution of complex tax disputes in terms of the Tax Administration Act, 28 of 2011. Currently, Elle-Sarah is current part of Dispute Resolution and Tax Controversy Division in KPMG SA where she assists clients on a daily basis to resolve complex matters with SARS (in audit, legal and debt management divisions) as well as assists with Voluntary Disclosure Process (VDP) applications to SARS.
