Coenie Basson

Coenie is the current managing director of the KPMG Energy & National Resources audit group in South Africa. Coenie has extensive audit and advisory experience with multinational multi-listed clients primarily in mining (gold and platinum) and oil & gas (both upstream and downstream) industries. This includes auditing of financial statements and internal control over financial reporting (ICOFR). His ICOFR experience includes SOX implementation projects, annual ICOFR PCAOB audits, SOX re-implementation/optimization projects as well as COSO 2013 implementations. He has also worked on various IPO’s, fund raisings and carve-out financial statements. Coenie is the current group lead audit engagement partner of the Gold Fields Limited group, a JSE and NYSE listing company. He was also previously the group lead audit engagement partner of the Sasol Limited group, a JSE and NYSE listing company.
