KPMG in South Africa
Alison Beck is a partner in the Financial Risk Management Group (FRM) in South Africa. She is the executive director of KPMG Finance Company (Pty) Ltd. In addition she sits on a committee that liaises with the Exchange Control Department of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) representing practitioners and exchange control. She was seconded to ABSA as Acting Head of Exchange Control for 18 months until February 2014 and was a project sponsor of the SARB’s cross border transaction reporting upgrade in Absa. Alison joined KPMG in 1990 as a senior consultant and was made a director in 1996 and a partner in 1998 in Financial Services. She was instrumental in establishing KPMG Finance Company that provides finance to KPMG, its partners, directors and managers. In 1998 Alison initiated a joint venture with a JSE listed company to gain access to additional skills, clients and systems. Before joining KPMG she was the financial manager for the international and domestic treasury of one of South Africa’s largest banks responsible for the reporting of both domestic and international treasury operations, the offshore subsidiaries and daily SARB reporting on open positions.
