KPMG’s Sports practice have launched a new portal – FootballBenchmark.com – which provides business analysis of professional football clubs. Football Benchmark is the result of a major research initiative by KPMG to complement the work the Sports practice is already doing in football, as well as demonstrate an on-going commitment to meet a recognised need of their clients.
The Sports practice have invested a significant amount of resources to gather financial and operational data from hundreds of professional football clubs. Overlaying this raw data is a business intelligence system and visualisation software which, through the creation of charts, various ratios and indices, provides analysis of the world’s biggest sport.
The portal allows registered users access to robust data, which is supported by insight and interpretation of the football sector. Whilst there is a large amount of data within Football Benchmark it is by no means exhaustive, there is a significant proportion of the database that is only accessible to KPMG’s clients.
The Football Benchmark portal allows the performance of a single club, a cross section of clubs or a whole league, in a variety of categories, to be investigated. With such a wide variety of analysis opportunities available, the portal has been developed with the objective of providing a distinctive experience for the end user. Visitors to the portal are in charge of what they see, with the ability, through a step-by-step process, to filter the data and create bespoke content to meet individual needs.
Whilst a key driver of the portal's data is clubs’ annual financial statements, KPMG’s plan is to make Football Benchmark as dynamic as possible. With regular updates of operational performance data, and regular industry insights, outputs from the portal will change on a regular basis, removing the static nature that websites of this nature can exhibit.
The portal is now live and accessible at FootballBenchmark.com
