KPMG’s four components to citizenship that can help deliver the UN Post 2015

We believe KPMG can inspire confidence through our actions and investments, working to help lift people beyond poverty and ensure economic growth is balanced with the need to sustain our environment.

Our approach to citizenship prioritizes Lifelong Learning based on SDG4 (Quality Education). We believe a commitment to lifelong learning can help break the cycle of poverty. According to UNESCO’s 2016 Global Education Monitoring Report (PDF 9.3 MB), basic reading skills alone could help to lift 171 million people out of poverty. Furthermore, an additional year of education is associated with a 10 percent increase in wage earnings (UNESCO GEM Report, 2016).

Our commitment to Corporate Citizenship is more than just our commitment to Lifelong Learning. It includes our Global Climate Response, as well as wider responsible business programs such as the SDG Industry Matrix, our support for the UN’s Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the inspiring programs member firms deliver to empower change in their communities

Over the past 12 months, in delivering on this commitment, KPMG has invested over US$100 million in community impact projects.
