KPMG International (KPMGI) today announced its Shared Services and Outsourcing Advisory group was named Advisory of the Year by the Global Sourcing Association, previously known as the European Outsourcing Association, at its awards ceremony on 6 October 2016, in Sofia, Bulgaria. The awards program, now in its seventh year, recognizes the winners’ contribution to innovation and service excellence in the global sourcing community.

KPMG’s designation as Advisory of the Year was due to its strategic, singular focus on delivering transformational value to clients through improved service delivery models, reduced support costs, enabled technology, and initiatives that drive specific business outcomes resulting in sustainable, continuous improvements and a competitive advantage.

Pan-European client engagements KPMG cited in its award application included:

  • reducing by 50 percent the total cost of ownership, measurably increasing quality levels, and improving allocation of responsibilities for a telecoms and internet services provider
  • consolidating and transforming a leading financial services company’s global data centers and associated infrastructure operations to generate an anticipated 20 percent run rate savings
  • supporting a global publishing company through the full outsourcing life cycle of its previously established captive finance shared services center to fulfill its cost savings and company investment goals.

KPMG also cited in its award application numerous examples of innovative programs for its clients, including:

  • The Technology Innovation Center, which connects leading global technology thought leaders, entrepreneurs, Fortune 500 executives, venture capitalists and KPMG professionals to identify and evaluate the impact of disruptive technologies.
  • Ignition Centers, in which KPMG and strategic partners collaborate to deliver capabilities in digital and mobile, data & analytics, technology business management, tax transformation and technology, business in the cloud and HR transformation.
  • KPMG Innovation Factory, which prepares for the evolution from innovation point solutions to integrated offerings in support of business and culture transformations. It leverages KPMG's global network, and provides access to its network of startups, incubators, M&A expertise, financial modeling, investors, business partners, research institutes and academia.
  • KPMG Data Observatory, a partnership with the UK’s Imperial College – which is consistently ranked as one of the world's top 10 universities – that enables researchers and businesses to work together to analyze and visualize big data, generating insights to help businesses improve their products and services and stay competitive.

“The ability to deliver sustainable, transformational value to clients is rooted in the knowledge and proficiency of the 1,100 member firm SSOA professionals worldwide,” said David J. Brown, Global Lead, Shared Services and Outsourcing Advisory. “KPMG International has invested hundreds of millions of dollar to create global Centers of Excellence and to develop innovative processes, methodologies and enabling technologies. It is an honor to receive this award, as it recognizes the passion and commitment to generating competitive advantages for KPMG member firms’ clients.”

KPMG was also named one of the Accreditation Partners for the Global Sourcing Association’s Standards Advisory Group, which will soon begin developing a unified view of global industry best practices for which both buy- and sell-side organizations can be accredited.
