IRS releases draft Form 1024-A; new section 501(c)(4) application form

IRS releases draft Form 1024-A

The IRS has posted a draft version of a new form that organizations would file to apply for recognition of section 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status.

The draft version [PDF 167 KB] of Form 1024-A, Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code, has a “watermark” date of September 27, 2017. The draft form includes a statement that it is not to be relied upon for filing purposes, and is subject to change and to OMB approval before being officially released. The comment period for Form 1024-A ends October 23.

Draft instructions for Form 1024-A have not yet been released.
