The IRS has posted a final version of a publication that serves as a user guide with respect to notifications concerning FATCA reports.
Pub. 5189 [PDF 1.14 MB] FATCA Reports International Compliance Management Model (ICMM) Notifications User Guide (Rev.05-2017) includes detailed explanations about the potential notifications that filers will receive in response to the files they submit via the International Data Exchange System (IDES). The user guide focuses on the meaning of each possible notification and the steps that need to be taken to address the issue(s) identified by the notification.
It is also noted that in addition to the material provided in the user guide, the IRS posts “frequently asked questions” (FAQs) relevant to each notification and that these FAQs are regularly updated by the IRS.
