This report highlights some recent enhancements to the ways employers can consider and hire foreign employees to come to work in Canada and a June 27 Webinar to be held by KPMG Law LLP, Canada.
The introduction of the Global Skills Strategy on June 12, 2017, provides Canadian employers a key advantage in the global talent marketplace.1 In particular, it created the Global Talent Stream, which is intended to offer a facilitative Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) application process. In light of the many immigration tools available, employers must be strategic in assessing the specific advantages between the Global Talent Stream and other LMIA-exempt alternatives, while taking into account the respective compliance liabilities. The Global Talent Stream may not be appropriate for all employers in all situations.
