The Minister of Interior on 20 March 2017 announced the release of the Immigration Regulations, 2017—effective from 27 February 2017.

The new regulations provide a legal framework for effectively implementing the Immigration Act, 2015 and consolidate existing immigration regulations in Nigeria.

Visa on arrival

To simplify doing business in Nigeria, business visitors may now obtain a “visa on arrival” in Nigeria with ease. The visa on arrival is a short-term visa issued to frequent business travelers at the port of entry in Nigeria and is valid for a maximum of 30 days. The visa scheme is an incentive to attract foreign direct investment into the country and to boost tourism.
