China: Update on BEPS; recommendations implemented

China and Hong Kong have committed to the OECD's base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) project.

China has adopted several of the BEPS recommendations, and already has rolled out the BEPS transfer pricing documentation requirements. It is reported that China is looking to localise the BEPS-updated transfer pricing guidance.

China also has indicated an interest in adopting the BEPS proposals on permanent establishments, controlled foreign company (CFC) rules, hybrid mismatching arrangements, and treaty abuse.
