An order of the Portuguese tax authorities extended to 30 September 2016 the FATCA reporting deadline for Portuguese financial institutions to report FATCA information to the Portuguese tax authorities. This is the fifth time that the deadline has been extended (the most recent deadline was 30 June 2016).

Portugal and the United States have already signed an intergovernment agreement (IGA), but the IGA has not yet been approved and ratified in order to allow for its effective entry into force, nor has relevant implementing legislation been enacted in Portugal.
