FATCA: IDES testing schedule

The IRS today issued a release announcing the next testing phase for the FATCA International Data Exchange Service (IDES).

According to the IRS release, the FATCA IDES opens for testing beginning next Monday, July 18, 2016, at 8:00 AM EDT with the testing continuing through Friday, July 29, 2016 at 5:00 PM EDT.

The test session will be open to users that have completed IDES enrollment by Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 5:00 PM EDT. 


The International Data Exchange Services (IDES) is an online portal that allows financial institutions and host country tax authorities to upload and transmit data to the IRS in accordance with FATCA reporting obligations. Financial institutions generally use IDES to transmit information required under the U.S. Treasury regulations or foreign financial institution (FFI) agreements, whereas the information transmitted by host country tax authorities is determined based on intergovernmental agreements (IGAs) and Competent Authority Agreements (CAAs).
