Brazil: Extended deadlines for FATCA compliance

Brazil’s tax administration (Receita Federal do Brasil—RFB) issued guidance extending certain deadlines with respect to FATCA filing compliance.

Normative Instruction (IN) 1,647/2016 (30 May 2016) extends the filing deadlines under e-Financeira (the FATCA reporting mechanism) as follows:

  • The e-Financeira filing now must be made by 12 August 2016 (extended from the previous deadline of the last business day of May 2016) with respect to reportable information corresponding to the period 1 – 30 December 2015.
  • The e-Financeira filing must be made by the last business day of November, 2016 with respect to reportable information corresponding to the first semester period for the calendar year 2016 (instead of the previous deadline of the last business day of August 2016).
