IRS considering the future of Form 990, Schedule B

Form 990, Schedule B "Schedule of Contributors"

An IRS official today said the IRS is evaluating whether to maintain the requirement that tax-exempt organizations report donor names and addresses on Form 990, Schedule B, “Schedule of Contributors.”

According to a news report from today’s “Emerging Issues in Philanthropy Seminar” at the Urban Institute’s Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy, Tamera Ripperda, Director of Exempt Organizations in the IRS Tax-Exempt and Government Entities Division, said that the IRS is examining whether donor names and addresses are necessary for federal tax law enforcement and whether the IRS needs to request such information.
