Extended tax return deadline in India

India’s Central Board of Direct Taxes on 2 September 2015 issued an order extending the income tax return filing deadline to 7 September 2015, for individuals, Hindu undivided families (HUFs), partnerships, and certain other taxpayers that are not required to have their books of accounts audited.

The extended deadline for filing return of income applies for the tax year 2014-15. The due date was 31 August 2015, but there are reports some taxpayers were unable to file their returns due to IT-related issues.
