The U.S. Supreme Court today issued a decision in a case concerning same-sex marriage—a case that may have tax implications for individuals, employers, human resource departments, and others. The Court held, five to four, that the Fourteenth Amendment requires a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex.
The case is: Obergefell v. Hodges, 14-556 (S. Ct. June 26, 2015).
