Mexico: Deadline for filing FATCA returns extended

The Mexican tax authorities on 14 May 2015, issued guidance that extends the deadline for filing amended FATCA returns for the tax year 2014.

The deadline for filing amended FATCA returns has been extended to 15 September 2015 (originally, the deadline for filing amended FATCA returns was 31 May).

In general, the deadline for filing FATCA returns is 15 February of the following year. However, under the FATCA reporting rules, amended information corresponding to the previous year may be allowed. Such amended returns are used to update and replace the information on the originally filed FATCA return—if now filed by 15 September 2015.
