Argentina has extraordinary resources in (particularly wind and solar) energy.

However, today only a less than 1% of power generation in Argentina is generated from renewable sources.

Late last year, the law 27191 modified the previous regime (Law 26190), which sets as a goal to reach by the end of 2017 to 8% of the generation of electrical energy from renewable sources.

To achieve this goal the government of Mauricio Macri has launched Renewing Plan. In the first round of this program, whose presentation is scheduled for September 5, 1000 MW will be tendered. To achieve the goal of 8% will be required about 4,000 / 5,000 billion investment.

There is a great expectation on this issue, which has been mentioned in the presidential campaign and also discussed in the recent visit of US President to our country. From the CADER (Argentina Chamber of Renewable Energy), where KPMG occupying participate from the secretariat of the institution, we received many inquiries the country and from abroad by this issue. The experience of countries in the region as Uruguay, Brazil and Chile will be very important for the development of renewable energy in Argentina.

This webcast to discusses the opportunities and challenges of this new legislation and its implications for businesses and investors in the sector.
