Liz is a leader in KPMG’s Global Payments Practice with more than twenty years of experience in payment systems, both in central clearing and settlement systems, and in bank payment systems design globally. She is passionate about customer-centric payments innovation, design and implementation. Over the course of her career, she has been involved in the design of SEPA since inception and was the business architect for SEPA Clearing and Settlement Mechanism. She has worked on the rollout of Faster Payments in the UK and subsequently with a number of other countries introducing a new similar capability. Liz has worked on other national payment infrastructures including redesign and platform renewal and outsourcing projects including Sweden, India and the USA. Liz advised the UK Government on the SEPA Regulation and the Payment Services Directive and has worked on the practical impact of EU regulation and legislation in the payments area. She has been actively involved in the design of the New Payments Platform in Australia and in assessing the changes in capability in payment systems versus desired outcomes. Liz is actively involved in the development of the ISO 20022 XML standard for faster payments at a global level. Liz is currently advising a central bank in Asia on a national retail payments strategy and has spoken internationally on payment system reform, cash management issues, Faster Payments, SEPA and the PSD and ISO 20022.
