Joachim Kölschbach

Global IFRS Insurance Leader

KPMG in Spain

Joachim is KPMG’s global IFRS insurance leader. In this role, he is responsible for leading the development of KPMG’s guidance on accounting for insurance companies. Joachim has more than 30 years of experience in insurance accounting and regulation. He used to be a partner of KPMG in Germany from since 1999 until 2021. He has been a key participant in several European Commission studies on these matters and is member of the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group’s (EFRAG) Insurance Accounting Working Group. Joachim is also an honorary professor the University of Cologne on accounting for insurance companies, and has given many speeches and written numerous articles on the subject.
