Robert (Bob) is a Director in the KPMG Advisory Services practice with more than 24 years of experience as a regulator in the insurance industry plus several years in the private insurance sector. His role as US insurance regulatory lead focuses on national and international insurance regulatory risk. Bob is actively involved in the development of capital standards for insurers including the U.S. Federal Reserve, state regulatory and ComFrame initiatives. Currently he is assisting in coordinating the U.S. regulatory system with other international jurisdictions. He also advises clients on complex statutory accounting issues. Prior to joining KPMG, Bob was an Assistant Commissioner at the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance responsible for solvency regulation of all domestic and licensed insurance entities. He was directly responsible for overseeing large multistate examinations and developing tools to effectively communicate the process to industry stakeholders. His position included oversight of the following units: financial analysis, field audits and examinations, He was a key driver in the implementation of the risk focused analysis and examination approach for multi-state insurers. This was accomplished through participation on the NAIC Financial Examiner Handbook Technical Group and the Financial Analysis Working Group.As an insurance regulator, he was active on several NAIC and IAIS Committees and Working Groups in developing insurance regulatory policy. He continues participation in these organizations.
