Jim Gilchrist has 28 years of experience working with companies and their stakeholders, often in challenging or crisis situations, to stabilize and rebuild their businesses, to find alternative solutions to challenging problems and to effect appropriate business combinations.

Jim has significant experience with troubled situations in Forestry, Hospitality, Real estate Development, Wineries and Aquaculture. He has acted as Trustee in the Proposals of numerous companies that have seen the creditors paid in full on their claims. Jim has extensive experience in the operation, management and sale of residential health care facilities. He has experience in the liquidation of financial institutions, both in Canada and abroad. Jim has acted on cross border situations involving companies with operations in Canada and the US. He has acted on numerous occasions in the review of business plans and policies for both private and public sector clients and offered advice on proposed combinations or business models. He has acted to bring companies together in desired combinations by way of filings under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act where it was important to preserve licences and rights that may have terminated on a formal bankruptcy or receivership.

In addition, Jim has extensive experience in management of and restructuring of non-profit associations and non-profit boards.
