Liz Forsyth

Global Chair of Government & Public Sector and Lead for Human & Social Services

KPMG Australia

Liz is KPMG’s Global Chair of Government & Public Sector which is focused on delivering meaningful results through a deep understanding of government issues, an intimate appreciation of how the public sector works, and global and local insight in an ever changing environment. She brings insight to governments at all levels to help address these challenges with the aim of producing better outcomes for citizens and the communities within which they reside.

Liz is also the Global Lead for Human and Social Services having started her career as a social worker before leading KPMG’s Health, Ageing and Human Services sector in Australia since 2003. Her driving passion is health and social policy reform. Her work predominantly focused on issues related to disadvantage, disability and vulnerability, covering the many and varied aspects of the sector at both state and national levels. This work included strategy, policy development, program design and reform, service improvement, resource allocation and funding methodologies and evaluation.

Liz believes a positive and inclusive approach is essential to success: “It’s a matter of seeing the opportunity not the constraint. It’s about trying to find the one or two or three things that will move an issue forward. That includes bringing your stakeholders along with you. You can solve the problem at a theoretical level but changes in behaviour, in a system, in practice, all have to align and that’s a complicated thing to do.”
