At KPMG, our focus on lifelong learning goes beyond the classroom. We work with the wider community to offer innovative coaching and mentoring programs and participate in global partnerships that help build skills, learning and progression across a lifetime. By embracing the role we all play as educators, we are making an important contribution towards the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goal 4, to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, helping to unlock a prosperous and inclusive future. Our commitment to learning is a key enabler for all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Lifelong learning: creating the change we need for the world we want
In this publication (PDF 1.70 MB), we articulate the business and development case for prioritizing investment in lifelong learning. We share insights on how to unlock the power of cross-sector partnerships and describe our global lifelong learning partnerships with not-for-profit organizations, along with a few member firm national lifelong learning partnerships.
In addition, the publication draws on the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Industry Matrix publication series (jointly prepared by KPMG and the UN Global Compact) to highlight shared value opportunities for six industries to advance SDG 4 on Education and Lifelong Learning, illustrated with company examples.
Recognizing that strong reading skills are the basis for future success, and that the biggest obstacle to children's literacy in low-income communities is a lack of books, KPMG's Family for Literacy (KFFL) program helps lay a foundation for lifelong learning at the very start of a child's education. By providing access to books, KFFL is helping promote literacy - unlocking potential and opening doors to opportunity for children worldwide.
Since KFFL's inception in the US in 2008, it has expanded to 12 countries including: China, Canada, India, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, the UK, Pakistan, Uganda and Tanzania. To-date, KPMG professionals and their families have provided over 3 million books to children worldwide.
