David is a Tax Partner for KPMG in the Cayman Islands and is one of the leaders of KPMG’s tax team comprised of 30 tax professionals located in the Cayman Islands.

With over nineteen years’ experience with KPMG’s Vancouver and Cayman Islands offices, David has a very strong and diversified background in both US inbound and outbound tax reporting, including large investment fund US
tax compliance and advisory assignments which require significant foreign reporting disclosures. His experience includes due diligence reviews on several acquisitions and participation in structuring discussions with legal counsel as part of the due diligence process. 

David’s current responsibilities include the provision of US tax compliance and advisory services for alternative investment fund clients.  David advises on a wide range of partnership and corporate international tax issues including private equity reporting, check the box elections and other tax structuring considerations, as well as PFIC analysis and reporting. David also provides tax advisory services involving US activities such as review of permanent establishment and US trade or business rules for foreign entities with US activities, and Subpart F considerations.

David is the leader of KPMG Cayman Islands FATCA/CRS team and works closely with KPMG’s Global FATCA/CRS team on engagements for clients based in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands.

  • David is a member of the Cayman Islands FATCA/CRS Working Group which assists Cayman government with drafting guidance to industry.
