KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, has named Lisa Daniels as the Managing Partner of its Bay Area market as well as the San Francisco Hub Market Leader, leading a broad team which includes over 3000 professionals in KPMG’s San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Seattle, Anchorage, Billings, Boise, Honolulu, Portland, Sacramento, and Salt Lake City markets. Effective July 1, Daniels succeeds Debbie Messemer in these roles who will retire later this year after an esteemed career with KPMG.
KPMG LLP has also named Ron Lopes as Managing Partner of its Silicon Valley market. Effective March 1, Lopes succeeds Daniels, who will be transitioning from her current role as Silicon Valley Market Managing Partner.

About Lisa Daniels
Before coming to the Bay Area, Daniels served six years as the Managing Partner of KPMG’s Phoenix market. She joined KPMG in 1993 and became a partner in 2001. Daniels has held various positions in five KPMG offices including Los Angeles, Orange County, Phoenix, Chicago and Silicon Valley. Daniels began her career in the Audit practice and transitioned to KPMG’s Advisory practice with a specialty in technology risk in 1999. She serves on several industry and advisory boards including the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and the Silicon Valley chapter of Women’s Corporate Directors.
Daniels holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University, and is a Certified Public Accountant in California, Arizona and Illinois.
About Ron Lopes
Lopes joined KPMG in 1989 and has served his entire career in Silicon Valley. He became a partner in 2000 and currently serves as the Advisory practice leader in Silicon Valley. Lopes has authored several thought leadership pieces including the KPMG Internal Controls Study of Technology Companies and KPMG’s Top Ten Internal Audit Considerations for Technology Companies.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an accounting emphasis, from Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, where he now serves on the Cal Poly Orfalea College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council. Lopes is a Certified Public Accountant in California.
About Debbie Messemer
Messemer has served as the Leader of KPMG’s San Francisco HUB Market (10 markets in 8 states) since 2017 and as the Managing Partner of KPMG’s Bay Area Market since 2008. Under Messemer’s leadership, the Bay Area market more than doubled in size – organically and inorganically through a series of talent and capability acquisitions including the acquisition of Rothstein Kass in 2014 which added 200 professionals with alternative investment experience to augment KPMG’s strategic investments in this industry sector. She spent the majority of her career in KPMG’s audit practice serving public and private clients including assistance with numerous M&A transactions and initial public offerings. Active in the Bay Area market, she has served on a number of boards including San Francisco Ballet, Project Glimmer, Posse, Fisher Center (UC Berkeley), San Francisco Committee on Jobs, Chamber of Commerce, and Bay Area Council. She is a member of Leadership San Francisco (Class of 2001), Women Corporate Directors (co-founder), International Women’s Forum, and the National Association of Corporate Directors. Messemer is a regular contributor to Fortune and the Huffington Post. She was named by the FWSF as the Financial Woman of the Year in 2016.
Messemer earned B.B.A degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington, and is a Certified Public Accountant in California, Texas, and Hawaii.
