The KPMG Board Leadership Center (BLC) today announced the addition of Claudia H. Allen to its team of corporate governance specialists.
Based in Chicago, Allen joins the BLC from Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, where she was a partner and co-chair of the firm’s Corporate Governance practice, counseling boards, management, and investors on governance matters.
“Claudia brings a wealth of governance knowledge to the BLC and the directors and boards we interact with,” said Dennis T. Whalen, leader of the BLC. “With investors and other stakeholders continuing to raise the bar on what it means to be an effective board, Claudia’s insights and experience will be invaluable in shaping leading practices in corporate governance and facilitating quality boardroom conversations.”
Allen joins a seasoned team of governance professionals at KPMG’s BLC—including senior advisors Patrick A. Lee (former legal executive at Verizon), Susan M. Angele (former legal executive at Hershey and Kraft/Nabisco), and Stephen L. Brown (former head of corporate governance at TIAA)—focusing on trends shaping corporate governance and leading board practices.
“The BLC is clearly focused on the issues that need to be front and center in the boardroom,” said Allen. “I’m looking forward to helping advance the dialogue on those critical issues – whether it’s long-term performance, board engagement with stockholders, environmental and social issues, diversity in the boardroom, or creating an effective board evaluation and refreshment process.”
A recognized speaker and author on corporate governance issues, Allen has presented at the American Bar Association, the Association of General Counsel, Institutional Shareholder Services’ Governance Exchange, the National Investor Relations Institute, and the Private Directors Association. She also has appeared on CNBC’s Power Lunch and Squawk on the Street, and has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, The Financial Times, and leading governance publications.
Through an array of programs and perspectives—including KPMG’s Audit Committee Institute, WomenCorporateDirectors, Board Exchange, and more—the KPMG Board Leadership Center (BLC) supports directors and boards at every stage of board service—from board-readiness for seasoned executives and onboarding for new directors, to ongoing education and in-boardroom briefings, and timely thought leadership developed and delivered by BLC’s governance professionals.
