Enacted measures in 2024 budget

Bills corresponding to certain of the tax measures proposed in the budget statement and economic policy for 2024 presented in November 2023 (read TaxNewsFlash) received gazette notification on 29 December 2023.

The enacted measures related to:

  • Value added tax (VAT)
    • VAT flat rate of 5% on commercial properties
    • Zero VAT rate on sanitary towels manufactured locally
    • Extension of zero-rated VAT supply of locally assembled vehicles for two years
    • Extension of zero-rated VAT supply for local African print textile manufacturers
    • Sanctions and rights of appointed withholding VAT agent
    • Exempt supplies
  • Excise duties
  • Exemptions
  • Income tax
  • Emissions levy
  • Customs
