IRS administration, taxpayer protection bills

The U.S. House of Representatives on April 17, 2018, approved a number of bills related to IRS administration and taxpayer protections.

  • H.R. 2901, The Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Permanence Act  
  • H.R. 5438, A Bill to Amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to Allow Officers and Employees of the Department of the Treasury to Provide to Taxpayers Information Regarding Low-Income Taxpayer Clinics

  • H.R. 1512, The Social Security Child Protection Act of 2017

 

Additionally, the House passed H.R. 5192, Protecting Children from Identity Theft Act, by a 420-1 vote.

The bills will be transmitted to the Senate. It is not clear whether or when the Senate would consider the bills.
