IRS to launch machine-readable Form 990 data, June 15

An IRS official today announced certain exempt-organization initiatives would be available and publicly launched later this summer.

IRS Exempt Organization Director Tamera Ripperda, speaking at an annual not-for-profit conference organized by the Chicago-Kent College of Law, said that:

  • The IRS expects to release a machine-readable version of Form 990 data on June 15, 2016.  
  • An online system for exempt organizations to use in notifying the IRS of an intent to operate as section 501(c)(4) entity would be available beginning July 1, 2016.
