Amit Gupta

Principal

KPMG in the U.S.

I have worked extensively across several different industries including Diversified Industrials, CPG (including food and beverage), Consumer Electronics, Medical Equipment Manufacturing, and Energy (both Oil & Gas producers and well as oil field service providers). I have led the development of and implemented global supply chain and manufacturing strategies for these companies helping them optimize their global operations amid globalization and volatile demand patterns. I have also helped companies develop flexible supply chain and manufacturing strategies to ensure continuity of supply of goods to their global customers in case of catastrophic events and as their supply base migrates across global locations.

Professional and Industry Experience

  • For a global Chemicals manufacturer, led a global working capital improvement assessment and identified over $1B in working capital improvement opportunity in Payables, Receivables and Inventory. Currently leading the implementation effort at the client.
  • For a global medical devices manufacturer, developed a strategy and decision framework for optimizing the global distribution network. Developed criteria to balance cost, risk, efficiency and capability while optimizing the service requirements for their global customer base. Led to annual savings of $11-17M.
  • For a global medical devices manufacturer, analyzed the working capital and identified over $300M in working capital improvement within Payables. Working with client to implement initiatives.
  • For the carve-out of a global health and life sciences company, evaluated entire supply chain operating model to find new and better ways to operate. Mapped and assessed SpinCo’s existing supply chain processes (planning, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, quality assurance, direct procurement and global trade). Created logistics and distribution CoE (including CMOs), a quality assurance CoE (all suppliers and CMOs) and a global trade compliance CoE as the highest impact operating model changes.
  • For a global Chemicals (including Resins, plastics, and specialty chemicals) manufacturer, identified over $200M in inventory optimization benefits across multiple functional areas, including Procurement, Manufacturing, and Logistics, and across all global geographical regions – Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Gained approval from senior management on launching initiatives to improve inventory management processes globally.
