Mike started his career serving clients with KPMG before moving to private industry. In industry, he worked in Finance teams performing accounting, tax, and network support responsibilities. In 1996 Mike returned to public accounting in San Jose where he specialized in research credit services. He was promoted to partner in 2001 and led a specialty tax practice and then federal tax practice in the Pacific Northwest area. Mike recently ran his own business as an independent consultant focused on research credit services. He rejoined KPMG in the Silicon Valley office as Partner in February 2012. Mike has worked on numerous research credit engagements serving companies in agriculture, construction and engineering, energy, financial services, manufacturing, pharma-biotechnology, retail and distribution, and technology industry segments. During this time, Mike has led integrated projects with international, federal, and state and local tax issues. Mike’s diverse experience is a key factor in providing customized solutions and unique perspectives to clients. The primary objectives with research credit studies is to optimize the credit with complete and accurate deliverables that are audit ready, while minimizing tax risk and disruption of Company personnel. Mike’s experience in tax and accounting working with executives and technology personnel at all levels of large and small organizations, in addition to his experience working with tax authorities make him a valuable resource in supporting clients to meet their objectives.
