KPMG has announced that Euan West has been appointed to lead the firm’s Liverpool office from 1 January 2018.
Euan is currently Head of Clients and Growth for KPMG’s National Markets business in the UK, working with a number of listed businesses including ASOS, PageGroup, SIG and KCOM.
He is a member of the firm’s National Markets leadership team, sits on KPMG’s Investment Review Board and also leads the firm’s digital transformation programme across its regional business. He joined KPMG’s Leeds office in 2002, principally focussed on business development and client relationship management across a number of different sectors in the North of England, and became partner in 2011.
Euan takes over the Liverpool office senior partner role from Chris Fry who, after six years in post, will continue to work across the North West region as tax partner, leading on some of the firm’s major accounts.
Commenting on his appointment, Euan said: “It’s a fantastic privilege to be taking over the leadership of such a talented team at a time when Merseyside continues to build its reputation as an exceptional place in which to do business. The strength of the city region’s traditional industries is matched by a raft of exciting growth sectors and an ambitious community of entrepreneurial start-ups, so I’m really excited about being able to play a part in shaping their future success.
“As an office, we also have strong growth ambitions, as evidenced by the suite of promotions and new hires that we made earlier in the autumn. My priorities over the coming months will be to maintain a keen focus on developing the skills of our people, ensuring we can recruit and retain the very best talent, whilst delivering best-in-class services to our clients.”
Chris Hearld, North region chair for KPMG, added: “As a markets partner, Euan has an excellent track record of working closely with our clients to develop an in-depth understanding of their strategies, objectives and what keeps them awake at night, in order that we can support them with their growth ambitions. With Liverpool having the second fastest growing economy outside of London, it’s an exciting time for the city region and there’s a wealth of opportunity out there. I know that Euan will lead the office with passion, building on the great success we achieved under Chris Fry’s leadership.”
He added: “I’d like to put on record our thanks to Chris Fry for the sterling job that he has done as head of our Liverpool office. During his six years in Liverpool, Chris has been absolutely instrumental in the growth and development of the office and in building its strong market share and reputation. Alongside his tax partner role, Chris will continue to lead on some of our larger client accounts, and will also work closely with Stuart Burdass, driving our Enterprise business across Merseyside and the wider North West.”
KPMG’s Liverpool office is 95 strong, led by a partner and director group of 10 senior professionals. The firm works with companies across Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales including B&M, Liverpool Football Club and The Contact Company. Its M&A team, led by director Mark Booth, has recently increased its number to four permanent staff to meet the increasing demand for M&A services across the city region.
