Justin Zatouroff, Head of Business Services at KPMG in the UK comments on the IHS Markit / CIPS UK Services PMI figures. He said:

“Just like the underlying performance of the UK economy, the services sector is a mixed bag of positives and negatives. Service providers recorded solid rises in business activity and incoming new work during August but rates of growth eased since July and remained notably weaker than seen on average in the first half of 2017.

This mixed picture and the ongoing political uncertainty continues to erode confidence in the future performance of the sector, which is resulting in business decisions being deferred.”
