Three KPMG colleagues from the firm’s Cyber Security and CIO Advisory teams were finalists at the 2017 Women in IT Awards last night on 25 January 2017.

The Women in IT Awards promotes gender diversity within the technology industry and celebrates the achievements and innovations of women from across the sector. The awards, which were launched in 2015, are organised by business technology magazine Information Age.

KPMG continues to support the awards and sponsored the Digital Leader of the Year category. The accolade recognises women in a senior digital position who have shown innovation, leadership, digital best practice, return on investment, cultural change and alignment to business goals. It was won by Beverley Bryant, head of digital transformation at the NHS.

More than 1,000 business and technology leaders attended the event which was hosted at The Great Room at Grosvenor House on Park Lane. The awards were introduced by Maggie Philbin OBE, the CEO of TeenTech, and the keynote address was delivered by Sir Alex Younger, the head of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service.

Lisa Heneghan, Head of KPMG’s CIO Advisory Group, Karolina Oseckyte from the cyber security practice and Anna Somaiya from CIO Advisory were all shortlisted for awards.

Lisa Heneghan was a finalist for the Woman of the Year accolade. For more than 25 years, Lisa has been dedicated to delivering transformative change for clients and colleagues. She has overseen the rapid growth of KPMG’s market-leading CIO Advisory practice and become an established thought leader in the industry. Karolina Oseckyte was shortlisted for Advocate of the Year award and was recognised for her work to engage and mentor children, teenagers and women with view to encourage them to take future careers in cyber security and the IT industry.

Anna Somaiya’s work to found the “IT’s Her Future” initiative, which supports the attraction, recruitment, promotion and retention of women in technology, was shortlisted for E-skills Initiative of the Year.
