The joint administrators of American Apparel (Carnaby) Ltd and American Apparel UK Limited (the “Companies”), Jim Tucker and Richard Beard of KPMG LLP, have confirmed that they have closed 12 of the companies’ 13 stores.

The Camden High Street store remains open.

As a result of the closures, 147 members of staff have been made redundant at stores and at the head office. The remaining 31 members of staff based in Camden and at head office will be retained in the short term.

Jim Tucker and Richard Beard were appointed joint administrators of the companies on 8 November 2016. The companies ran the UK retail and wholesale operations of the US branded high street fashion retailer American Apparel.

Jim Tucker, Joint Administrator and Restructuring Partner at KPMG, commented: “Over the last seven weeks, we have carried out our intention to trade all of the stores on a short-term basis in order to sell the stock and realise value for the creditors. The Camden store will remain open into January.”
