KPMG’s NHS app will look for trends to influence change

KPMG has developed an app to enable NHS staff to easily make pledges on ‘Fab Change Day’; a national NHS campaign that encourages staff to make a change to improve the way they or their organisation works.

Also on KPMG.com

The app enables the user to create a virtual pledge, with details about the person and the change they’d like to see. The user can then choose to upload their pledge onto social media, or share with others in their organisation. This shared data will enable NHS leadership to look for trends in the pledges. For example, they might find that staff in the South West are particularly concerned about one aspect of the NHS, but those in the North East might be concerned about another.

Paul Henderson, an analytics solutions director in KPMG’s healthcare team, says: “NHS staff are encouraged to use the Fab Change Day App as a simple way of sharing and recording their pledge to help shape the future of the service. This will be a vital tool for leadership, who will be able to see a wide cross section of colleagues’ views from across the UK and use the data to influence future change within their organisation.

”KPMG was approached to lead the project by Roy Lilley, the ambassador for Fab Change Day, after he heard about the success a KPMG app had had at achieving engagement among its own staff. Roy Lilley, former NHS Chairman, commentator and blogger, says: “We haven’t had anything like this in the past. NHS organisations have been great at mobilising staff to make pledges, but we’ve had no way of recording the pledges or patterns on a national scale.

“Fab Change Day isn’t about just one day, and the app will allow us to properly showcase what has been achieved, prove what works and share ideas. If staff give their permission through the app, we can put them in contact with other people making similar pledges to help them mobilise the change from the bottom up.”

Fab Change Day is on 19 October.
