KPMG has announced the appointment of Stephen Mortimer as a Director within its Enterprise practice.  Stephen joins KPMG Enterprise from Grant Thornton where he has spent the last five years building their financial management and consulting practices, working with businesses around the issues of strategy, operations and transformation.

Stephen,  who was ranked one of Accountancy Age magazine’s Top 35 under 35 last year, will build on KPMG’s existing presence in the financial management and consulting space and will use his significant experience in both practice and industry to work with privately owned and Private Equity backed businesses across sectors.

Commenting on his appointment, Ben McDonald, UK Head of KPMG Enterprise, said:

“Stephen has an impressive background working with clients across a range of industries, and joins KPMG Enterprise with an outstanding record of new business development and project delivery. He will be focussed on the middle market, advising the owners and management teams of private and PE-backed businesses on their core strategic concerns.  Stephen is a great addition to our growing Enterprise team and we are delighted to have him on board.”

Stephen Mortimer added:

“I am very excited about the prospect of joining KPMG Enterprise, which is a dynamic and ambitious part of the firm.  I am confident that together we can build on the impressive reputation that KPMG Enterprise already has in the market, and I am looking forward to bringing the full range of KPMG’s capabilities and services to many more exciting businesses to help them achieve their growth ambitions.”

Stephen’s appointment with KPMG Enterprise comes on the back of more than twenty senior hires in the last 18 months and a number of other investments as the firm looks to increase its market share with privately owned and PE backed mid-market companies.
