KPMG in the UK has risen up the rankings in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers list 2016-2017, going from ninth to sixth place, and second overall out of the Big Four professional services firms.
More than 18,000 final year students who graduated from universities across the UK in the summer of 2016 were asked to name the employer that they thought offered the best opportunities for new graduates. The survey is independent and organisations from every major employment sector – from high street retailers to investment banks – were recognised, with the 100 employers who were mentioned most during the research making the final list.
Linda Emery, KPMG head of student recruitment, said of the achievement “Attracting the brightest talent is fundamental to our long term success and it’s vital we understand what our colleagues want and need to be able to perform to the best of their abilities. We are delighted that KPMG has been recognised by 18,000 students as one of the top organisations that graduates would like to work for.
“We have made significant changes to the way we recruit in response to graduate feedback. Earlier in the year KPMG collaborated with High Fliers Research to survey over 400 graduates and asked them to name their biggest frustrations when applying for jobs at UK businesses. The research found that poor communication and lengthy processes were the top bug bears for our target audience, and so in response we introduced our new graduate recruitment process – Launch Pad. Launch Pad is a new streamlined approach which combines the traditional three stages of first interview, assessment centre and final interview into a single day. Students will also get the chance to gain new skills and to network with existing KPMG staff and partners, as well as their peers. Successful applicants will be made an offer within two working days of their final interview, and those that were unsuccessful will receive feedback within the same time frame.”
KPMG is currently recruiting for graduate positions across the UK. Applicants can apply via the KPMG careers website at www.kpmgcareers.co.uk and nationwide Launch Pad events will be taking place from October. KPMG’s graduate scheme is one of the most popular in the UK: the firm received 28,000 applications for c.1,000 positions in 2015.
