Halco Rock Tools Limited administration

Howard Smith and Jonny Marston were appointed Joint Administrators of Halco Rock Tools Limited (the ‘Company’ or ‘Halco’) on 31 August 2016.

The Company operated from leasehold premises in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, and supplied specialist air hammers and associated parts into the mining and oil & gas sectors.

Halco had suffered from severe working capital difficulties in recent months, following falling turnover and, as a result, its private equity owner had exited the investment. Continued creditor pressure led to the Company instructing KPMG LLP to assist in finding further investment or a buyer.

Following an accelerated marketing process, the Joint Administrators facilitated a pre-pack sale of business and assets of the Company immediately upon their appointment to a connected party. The transaction preserved 45 jobs, as the sale saw all of the Company’s 45 employees transfer to the purchaser.

The Joint Administrators are currently concentrating on all post sale agreement matters and on realising the assets that were not included in the sale.
