Commenting on the business tax roadmap announced in today’s Budget, Rob Lant, tax partner at KPMG in the UK, said:
“The much-anticipated business tax roadmap was intended to provide businesses the certainty they need to plan and invest for the future. However, the roadmap issued today is more of a helpful summary of the corporate tax proposals already laid out in the main Budget document rather than plainly signalling the direction of travel.
“Indeed, the last corporate tax roadmap was far more forward looking, providing businesses with a clear view of the changes anticipated over the life of the parliament. This time around, whilst views on the substantive measures will vary, businesses reading the roadmap may well be disappointed. The document offers a general sense of direction but not the detail businesses had hoped for.”
