KPMG has promoted tax specialist, Peter Beckett, to partner within its growing UK real estate team, with effect from 1 January 2016.
Peter has over 20 years of experience in tax, some 14 of which have been working exclusively with real estate businesses. Peter originally joined KPMG in 1996, working at the firm until 2004 when he joined Ernst and Young to lead the real estate tax team in the London real estate practice. He re-joined KPMG in 2011.
Peter is recognised for his knowledge within the market on UK REITs and has significant experience in advising real estate funds. He has also advised on the flotation of several AIM-listed and FTSE-listed real estate vehicles. Peter is a member of the British Property Federation Tax Committee and a Steering Committee Member of the Property Finance Forum.
In his new role, Peter will focus on expanding KPMG’s real estate tax capability and continuing to build relationships with investors, including global pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and private equity. He will also work to further develop KPMG’s relationships within the UK REIT market.
Peter said of his appointment: “I am delighted to be joining the partnership and look forward to working with clients, both existing and new, within my new role. This is an exciting time for the UK real estate market and I am confident that our real estate practice can offer best in class service to the industry.”
Commenting on Peter’s appointment, Andy Pyle, UK Head of Real Estate at KPMG in the UK, said: “Peter has a great deal of experience working with real estate tax clients, and his promotion to partner is a real boon for our practice. He is a well-known, highly respected figure within the industry and I am confident he will be instrumental in enabling us to enhance and develop our service to our clients. It is with real pleasure that I welcome Peter to the KPMG partnership.”
