KPMG is proud to have been included again in the prestigious Stonewall Workplace Equality Index (WEI) list of leading lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) friendly employers, this year rising over 100 places to number 44.

The Index is widely recognised as the leading benchmarking tool for organisations looking to showcase their achievements towards LGBT equality in the workplace.

Since becoming the first firm to publicly announce diversity targets in 2014, including targets on sexual orientation, KPMG in the UK has endeavoured to make LGBT inclusion a reality for staff.  The firm enforces a strict zero tolerance approach to bullying, discrimination and harassment, and actively encourages staff to become LGBT allies, through initiatives such as the “No Bystanders” event which was showcased during last year’s internal Inclusion Week.

Interim Head of People at KPMG, Philip Davidson, said: “This is a fantastic achievement. Receiving a coveted place in the Stonewall Top 100 employers sends a strong message about who we are as a firm, and what we believe makes us an employer of choice for our thirteen thousand plus workforce in the UK.

“Our aim as a diverse employer is to recruit, retain and promote the best people from a wide talent pool and create a truly inclusive environment that brings out the best in everyone. The Stonewall WEI is an important acknowledgement of our commitment to our staff, our clients and the communities we work in.

Chair of the KPMG Breathe (LGBT) Network, David Pearson, said: “KPMG’s position on this list represents the firm’s dedication to improving inclusivity for our people. This could not have been achieved without the ongoing efforts of the KPMG Breathe Network, their sponsors and our internal diversity and inclusion teams. KPMG is committed to encouraging all staff to be themselves at work, and recognition such as this shows that the hard work is paying off."

Ruth Hunt, Chief Executive, Stonewall said: “KPMG, and all of those employers that secured a place in the Stonewall Top 100 Employers 2016 list, performed fantastically this year. We have had more submissions than ever before and so making the list is a huge achievement. I’d like to thank all of those organisations for their continued efforts to ensure that their lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff feel comfortable to bring their whole selves to work and are accepted without exception”.
