Seventy talented young professionals in the electricity sector convened at KPMG’s offices in Canary Wharf on Tuesday for a Powerhouse 2030 workshop, aimed at gathering the views and opinions of future leaders in the industry.
Attendees at the event included representatives from SSE, National Grid, E.ON, EDF, British Gas, Npower, Scottish Power, UK Power Networks, Ofgem, DECC, Drax, Kiwi Power and Chevron, amongst others.
Commenting on the success of the event, David Gascoigne, UK head of power & utilities at KPMG says: “It was fantastic to witness that despite all of its woes, the energy sector still holds great appeal and a sense of purpose, social good and forward thinking for young people. The overwhelmingly positive message that I took away from the workshop was one of young professionals working within the industry feeling that they could make a difference, not only within the companies where they work but society in general.”
The Powerhouse 2030 network was formed in 2014 by KPMG to give a voice to future leaders. A group of young professionals were chosen by their respective companies to represent this forum, including many of the large electricity suppliers and generators. The original group now have a passion to cast the network wider and effect change in the industry.
David adds: “The remarkable thing about the Powerhouse 2030 network is that its momentum is driven by an ambitious group of young, talented individuals from within the industry, and KPMG is very proud to have kick-started the network”.
